The longitudinal surface of polypropylene is straight and smooth, with a circular cross-section. The advantage of polypropylene is its light texture, with a density of only 0.91g/cm3, making it a common chemical fiber with a light density. So polypropylene with the same weight can have a higher coverage area than other fibers. Polypropylene has high strength, elongation, initial modulus, and excellent elasticity. So polypropylene has good wear resistance. In addition, the wet strength of polypropylene is basically equal to the dry strength, so it is an ideal material for making fishing nets and cables. Light moisture absorption and dyeing properties, good warmth retention. Almost non hygroscopic, but with strong core suction ability and significant moisture wicking effect.
The hygroscopic property of polypropylene is very small, almost non-hygroscopic, and the moisture regain rate under general atmospheric conditions is close to zero. However, it has a core suction effect, which can transfer water vapor through the capillary tubes in the fabric, but does not have any absorption effect itself. The dyeing property of polypropylene is poor and the chromatography is incomplete, but the method of stock solution coloring can be used to make up for the deficiency. Polypropylene has good chemical resistance, polypropylene has good resistance to acid and alkali, so it is suitable for use as filter materials and packaging materials; Light resistance and other polypropylene light resistance is poor, thermal stability is also poor, easy to age, not resistant to ironing.
