Common identification methods for textile fibers
Hand feel visual inspection method: It is to touch with hands, observe with eyes, and judge the type of fibers based on experience.
Combustion method: Due to the different chemical compositions of fibers, the combustion characteristics are also different. Differences can be made based on the difficulty of fiber combustion, whether it is thermoplastic, the odor produced during combustion, and the characteristics of the ash after combustion.
Microscopic observation method: Using a microscope to observe the longitudinal shape and cross-sectional shape of fibers, or in conjunction with staining and other methods, commonly used to identify fiber categories.
Dissolution method: Different melting points of various chemical fibers can also be used to identify fibers.
Reagent coloring method: Identify fibers based on their different coloring properties towards a certain chemical reagent.
